Poetry of Small Parts is a small macOS app for people who keep meeting tiny parts with even tinier markings.
You know the ones:
- the mystery SOT-23 with
N039 - the regulator you identified once and then forgot again
- the reel, bag, or tray that definitely had a label at some point
- the “I know I have ten of these somewhere” situation
This app helps you build your own ground-truth parts database.
Store what a part really is, what its topmark says, where it lives, how many you still have, and any notes or photos that make future-you faster and less confused.
Don’t panic. It’s probably a regulator.
Datasheets exist. Distributor sites exist. Search engines exist.
And yet, when you are standing at the bench holding a tiny component with three unreadable characters on it, that is often not enough.
Poetry of Small Parts is built for the missing layer: your own verified knowledge.
It lets you keep a practical, personal reference library of the parts you actually use, salvage, sort, buy, lose, rediscover, and identify.
For each part, you can keep track of:
- Topmark
- MPN
- Manufacturer
- Package
- Type / value
- Status
- Quantity
- Primary storage location
- Notes
- Photos / attachments
This turns a pile of tiny anonymous packages into something searchable and useful.
Search from the marking you can actually read on the part.
Store the real identity once you have confirmed it.
Remember whether that part lives in:
- smd tray 1
- drawer 4
- anti-static bag
- blue cabinet
- salvage bin
- mystery box you promised yourself to organize
Keep a lightweight sense of stock without turning your bench into an ERP system.
