🌐 HAR recording on Tracing

tracing.startHar() / tracing.stopHar() expose HAR recording as a first-class tracing API, with the same content, mode and urlFilter options as recordHar. The returned Disposable makes it easy to scope a recording with await using:

🪝 Drop API

New locator.drop() simulates an external drag-and-drop of files or clipboard-like data onto an element. Playwright dispatches dragenter, dragover, and drop with a synthetic [DataTransfer] in the page context — works cross-browser and is great for testing upload zones:

Vite 8.0.13 (bumped in this Dependabot PR) now supports tsconfig path
resolution natively via resolve.tsconfigPaths. The vite-tsconfig-paths
plugin is no longer needed and Vite warns about its presence. Replace
the plugin with Vite's built-in option to eliminate the warning and
remove the now-redundant dependency.

  • playwright 1.59.1 → 1.60.0: Removed deprecated APIs (Locator.ariaRef(), legacy video options). New features only; no APIs our tests use were removed.
  • tailwindcss 4.2.4 → 4.3.0, @tailwindcss/vite 4.2.4 → 4.3.0: Minor release; web-cli CSS build succeeds cleanly.
  • All other updates (eslint, typescript-eslint, vitest, oclif, @types/node): patch/minor with no breaking changes relevant to this repo.

Migration concerns checked

  • Peer dependencies: Pre-existing peer warnings (eslint-plugin-react, tsup/esbuild) — unrelated to this PR.
  • Type changes: None — @types/node 25.6.2→25.8.0 adds types for new Node.js APIs, no removals.

What broke and what was fixed

vite-tsconfig-paths deprecation (Web CLI E2E [Web Server ERR] warning)

The shared-setup.ts for Web CLI E2E tests starts the web server via npx vite preview, which reads vite.config.ts. Vite 8.0.13 detects vite-tsconfig-paths and logs a warning to stderr. The test harness pipes all server stderr to console.error("[Web Server ERR]: ..."), making this visible in test logs.

Fix: Removed vite-tsconfig-paths from examples/web-cli/vite.config.ts and replaced with Vite's native resolve.tsconfigPaths: true. Removed the vite-tsconfig-paths devDependency and regenerated the lockfile.

E2E CLI test failures — NOT caused by this PR

Two tests in control-api-workflows.test.ts failed with exit code 2 from auth keys revoke:

  • should revoke an API key (line 444)
  • should reject publish attempts using a revoked API key (line 518)

Exit code 2 from auth keys revoke means the Control API call threw an error (handled by this.fail() in the catch block). Since all updated packages are devDependencies with no runtime impact, these failures are transient Ably API issues, not caused by the dependency update. The same tests passed in all other suites in the same run.

Verification

  • Build: ✅ (pnpm run build + react-web-cli + web-cli all succeed)
  • Lint: ✅ (0 errors, 10 pre-existing warnings)
  • Unit tests: ✅ (2520 passed after pnpm prepare generates manifest)
  • Web CLI build: ✅ (no vite-tsconfig-paths warning in output)
  • Web CLI tests: cannot run locally (require real credentials + terminal server)

Notes for reviewer

The E2E CLI failures (auth keys revoke exit code 2) are unrelated to the dependency update — they're intermittent Control API failures that should resolve on re-run. The main code change in this commit is the vite-tsconfig-paths migration, which follows Vite's own migration guidance for v8.x.
