Would anyone like to make this an active project again? #1705

The original maintainers seem to be no longer active. So:

Is there a technical reason this project was dropped; if not,
Is there an active version of this library somewhere; and if not,
Is anyone interested in creating a fork and making it active?

I've never participated in maintaining/reviving a repo but I would be happy to do so if anyone with experience can assist?
