how can i force cabal-install to use executables from PATH?

i use nix for dependencies and on the dev shell it puts the executables on PATH i can build my project reproducibly via nix but cabal-install is unable to find the build-tools on the devshell.

Try running with --minimize-conflict-set to improve the error message.
