Rust implementation

I'm interested in writing a Rust implementation of this, I'd just like to check the appetite for that.

It would allow this project to target Rust projects directly and potentially could be used as a common core for Python and C implementations in future.

I also wondered if the https://www.iroh.computer/ project would be a useful transport strategy for this project, the peer to peer protocol is pretty fast, robust and encrypted, I've used it on a few projects already.

Thanks a lot for opening this and for the writeup, really appreciate the thought you put into the Rust-core angle (and the iroh.computer pointer, that's a strong candidate worth a proper look).

We're heads-down on the next release right now, so we can't pick this up immediately, but we'll be glad to dig into it once that's out the door. Happy to follow up!
