Hi all,
I am a credentialed PhysioNet user (approved May 22, 2026) trying to complete the required CITI 'Data or Specimens Only Research' training to access MIMIC-IV.
PhysioNet's instructions direct users to affiliate with 'Massachusetts Institute of Technology Affiliates' on CITI. However, the affiliation form requires affirming an active formal affiliation with MIT (employment, enrollment, or other formal capacity). I have no such affiliation. I recently completed my MHI at the University of Michigan.
My U-M CITI affiliation does not offer 'Data or Specimens Only Research' as a standalone course.
Questions:
- Is the MIT CITI affiliation intended for non-MIT researchers accessing PhysioNet data, despite the affirmation language?
- If not, does completing 'Biomedical Human Subjects Research Protection' through a home institution satisfy the PhysioNet requirement?
Has anyone else navigated this? Any guidance appreciated.
